NEMA 4X electrical enclosures are designed for both indoor or outdoor use to provide a resistance to corrosion, and a degree of protection against splashing water, windblown dust and rain, hose directed water; undamaged by the formation of ice on the enclosure. However, NEMA 4X corrosion resistant weather proof enclosure boxes are often accompanied by additional NEMA ratings to extend their protections.
